“When The Last Trumpet Calls” was commissioned by Dr. Jose Garza and is dedicated to his mother Sra. Hortencia P. Garza. The composition is based on the old hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. The piece begins in a reverent and reflective mood followed by a trumpet fanfare. This section moves quickly to the hymn. There is a return to the fanfare followed by the reintroduction of the introduction and finally an exciting coda that represents the celebration of love and life.
