Composed in the fall of 2007, this piece was commissioned by and dedicated to Dr. Jackie Lamar, professor of saxophone at the University of Central Arkansas. Movement I is a blend of blues, classical and bebop separated by a short soft “lush” section. Movement II laments the loss of a younger brother, and Movement III includes asymmetrical meter, modern and jazz harmonies to say “farewell” to an old friend. This lively and syncopated movement also incorporates a “rock” section with a “cowbell” in attendance.
